From December 1, 2012, Encyclopaedia Britannica is available again at the Library.

The database is accessible from within our IP-range. Patrons using their own portable computers will also be able to connect to the database via the wireless access points (WAPs) deployed in the Main Reading Room and in the Department of Manuscripts & Rare Books.

Hours of operation for the upcoming holiday season

 
The Library will be closed from December 22, 2012, to January 2, 2013. In addition, we would like to call the attention of our patrons to the following information regarding the hours of operation before the upcoming holiday season.

November 30, 2012, Friday: The Library’s Main Reading Room will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Archives of the Academy and the Special Collections close at 4:00 p.m.

December 1, 2012, Saturday: The Library’s Main Reading Room will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Archives of the Academy and the Special Collections close at 1:30 p.m.

December 14, 2012, Friday: The Library’s Main Reading Room will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Archives of the Academy and the Special Collections close at 4:00 p.m.

Power outage on November 22

On November 22, 2012, the Library will be open from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. due to a power outage. The Archives of the Academy and the Special Collections will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. as usual.

The Library will be closed from July 14 to August 12, 2012. In addition, we would like to call the attention of our patrons to the following information regarding the hours of operation before and after the summer holiday.

July 9 to July 13, 2012: The Library’s Main Reading Room will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Stacks service is available from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Digital Reading Room is closed. The Archives of the Academy and the Special Collections continue to operate normally.

July 14 to August 12, 2012: All units of the Library will be closed.

August 13 to August 17, 2012: The Library’s Main Reading Room will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Stacks service is available from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Digital Reading Room is closed. The Archives of the Academy and the Special Collections continue to operate normally.

August 18, 2012: All units of the Library will be closed.

Our domain name has changed. The new address is konyvtar.mta.hu. The domain of mtak.hu will redirect to the new domain whenever typed into the URL. The change does not affect our digital collections.

The Protection of Architectural Heritage

 
The Széchenyi Academy of Letters & Arts has just published the proceedings of the International Conference on the Protection of Built Heritage, which was jointly organised by the Széchenyi Academy, the Art History Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Hungarian National Committee of ICOMOS in Budapest, March 1–2, 2011.

The Protection of Architectural Heritage was presented at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences on January 24, 2012, by art historians Ernő Marosi, regular member of the HAS, and Géza Entz, senior advisor in the Ministry of National Resources.

The trilingual book, edited by secretary of the Széchenyi Academy Magda Ferch and designed by Károly Horányi of the Department of Manuscripts & Rare Books of the Library of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, can be ordered at szima@office.mta.hu. Price: HUF 4,500.
